Creative Minds in Landscape Photography
Voice of the Eyes® is a collection of interviews with exceptional landscape photographers collected and edited by René Algesheimer. These photographers have mastered their craft like no other and have helped shape the entire discipline.
About Voice of the Eyes
Voice of the Eyes brings together conversations with some of the most influential and distinctive voices in contemporary landscape photography. Through a shared set of carefully selected questions, the book explores how photographers think, create, and engage with the world around them. Rather than presenting technical instruction, it offers insight into the creative process, revealing the ideas, experiences, and perspectives that shape each artist's work.
At the heart of the project is a simple belief: photographs are a language. When thoughts, emotions, and experiences cannot easily be expressed in words, photographs become a voice. The images presented throughout this book are not only visual records of places and moments, but expressions of perception, curiosity, imagination, and personal vision.
Created in response to an increasingly fast-moving and image-saturated world, Voice of the Eyes celebrates a slower and more thoughtful approach to landscape photography. The featured photographers represent a wide range of creative practices, backgrounds, and perspectives, yet they share a common commitment to exploration, observation, and meaningful image-making. Some work with film, others digitally. Some embrace documentary approaches, while others pursue more expressive interpretations of the landscape. Together they demonstrate the remarkable diversity that exists within the medium.
The photographers included in this volume have each contributed to shaping the discipline in their own way. Beyond their achievements, they have also influenced René Algesheimer personally—as mentors, friends, collaborators, and sources of inspiration. As a result, this book is not only a collection of interviews, but also an expression of gratitude toward the artists whose work continues to inspire creative growth and deeper ways of seeing.
More than a book about photography, Voice of the Eyes is an invitation to reflect on creativity itself. It encourages readers to slow down, engage with ideas, and consider how artistic expression can become a personal voice. Whether photographer, painter, writer, musician, or simply a curious observer, readers are invited to join a conversation about seeing, creating, and finding meaning through art.
In a world that rarely pauses, Voice of the Eyes was created deliberately and patiently with time, attention, and care. It is an invitation to do the same.
